Home is an amazing place! It’s a place of strength, security, and safety. It’s a place of love and laughter. There is a deep sense of pride and satisfaction that come with homeownership. This is The Power of Home.
Many families in Madison and Clark Counties have never experienced this strength, security, and satisfaction, however. Many live in unhealthy and unsafe living conditions and are paying 50% or more of their income just to have a place to live. These families have a reliable income, but they don’t make enough to qualify for a traditional mortgage. In spite of their best efforts, they feel stuck.
Local real estate professionals are uniting to do something about that! During the month of May, several local real estate agencies are raising funds to empower local families to earn their way to homeownership, giving them a strength and stability that will last for generations.

By raising funds for Habitat, these real estate professionals aren’t just meeting a need for the moment. They are empowering families for generations.
When a family partners with Habitat, they will:
- own a well-built home in a safe neighborhood.
- take classes to prepare them for successful homeownership.
- personally complete “sweat equity” hours working on their home or the home of another Habitat partner family.
- have mortgage payments that do not exceed 30% of their monthly income.
