Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties is one of more than 220 Habitat organizations awarded a grant from Wells Fargo as part of its nationwide initiative to help low-to-moderate income families construct and improve homes across the country. We are so grateful for Wells Fargo’s commitment to creating housing affordability solutions where everyone can have a safe, decent, affordable place to live! Thank you Wells Fargo!
Wells Fargo’s generosity is changing the lives of the Chaney family. Santana Chaney is a hardworking single mom of two active boys. Though she works hard, she has trouble making ends meet because her rent consumes a significant portion of her monthly income. Santana knew that she wanted more for her and her boys but didn’t know how to change her situation—that is until she started working for our affiliate’s ReStore. As a ReStore staff member, Santana saw other struggling families given the boost they needed to find strength and stability through homeownership. She was intrigued but didn’t apply at first because she thought “other people might need it more.” After some nudging by our Executive Director, she decided to jump in with both feet. Now Santana’s home has a slab, walls, a roof, and windows, and the inside work is ready to begin! She is so excited to see the progress and can’t wait until she gets to move into her forever home!
And Wells Fargo is helping to make it all happen!
The grant is part of a $7.75 million donation Wells Fargo is making to Habitat for Humanity International through Wells Fargo Builds. This initiative provides philanthropic financial support and volunteerism to create sustainable, affordable housing. More than 340 homes will be constructed or repaired with Habitat in over 40 states through the initiative this year. Wells Fargo Builds is part of Wells Fargo’s $1 billion philanthropic commitment to creating more housing affordability solutions by 2025.
