About Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties

Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties is a grass roots organization initiated by community members who saw a need for decent, affordable housing. That was 32 years ago, and since then we have worked with community volunteers and generous donors to build or improve 140+ homes for local families in need.

Habitat believes in giving families a hand up–not a hand out. Our Partner Families log at least 350 hours of “sweat equity” in the building of their own home. Once their home is completed, they purchase it with an affordable Habitat mortgage. In addition, our families also complete a series of classes that helps to prepare them to be successful first-time homeowners.

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
