A Brush With Kindness 2026
So far this year, Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush With Kindness Program has completed 17 critical home repair projects for low-income homeowners. These repairs have addressed safety, accessibility, and basic maintenance needs, allowing families to remain safely and independently in their homes.
The completed projects include:
6 new decks with wheelchair ramps, which we built and stained to provide safe and accessible entrances.
3 wheelchair ramps without decks, improving accessibility for homeowners with mobility challenges.
2 gutter repairs/replacements, helping protect homes from water damage and improve drainage.
3 window repairs/replacements, addressing safety, weatherization, and home maintenance needs.
3 yard clean-up projects, including work to correct flooding issues and improve drainage around the homes.
These projects have improved accessibility, reduced safety hazards, helped prevent further damage to homes, and allowed low-income homeowners to remain in safe and stable housing. In many cases, a relatively small investment in a critical repair can make a significant difference in a family's quality of life. A wheelchair ramp can allow a homeowner to safely enter and leave their home. Proper gutters and drainage can prevent costly water damage. A repaired window can improve both safety and energy efficiency. These are practical improvements with an immediate and lasting impact.
